[Marxism] Query re "ideas as objective conditions"

Louis Proyect wrote:
To begin with, it is important to make a distinction between Marxism and
economic determinism which are really two different things...However, Marxism
has always understood that ideas can become part of the *objective*
conditions of society--as much as the mode of
production--through the heavy weight of tradition.

A query: could you please expand on the above? Some critics would say that
Marxism
does not account for this at all, even though individual thinkers (who call
themselves Marxists)
may well take this into account.
More broadly, are you simply incorporating non-Marxist analysis into your
original Marxist analysis and saying that Marxism included the whole thing
anyway?
Analogous to how the English language incorporates foreign words and deems them
English?

Thanks for your time,
