[Marxism] Re: Huge immigrants' rights rally in LA

THE FELONY ISSUE

From the article that Walter posted:

"Kyl pointed out that most were speaking out against the House bill
making it a felony to be an illegal immigrant, not his bill, which
would also step up border enforcement and create a temporary guest-
worker program.

The felony restriction on the right to vote has eased slightly in the
last few years. But what is given can also be taken away. Here is the
Wikipedia article on felony disenfranchisement.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony_disenfranchisement

Here's a Rhode Island URL on the subject:

However, a felony conviction triggers a lot of other problems,
including future jobs, credit, parental rights, etc. Here's the
Wikipedia article that surveys the issue.

These restrictions are unrelated to the character of the felony. The
existence of a felony triggers many problems. It is then your
obligation to counteract them. Needless to say, a felony conviction
for an illegal immigrant would itself create a situation that a
future employer could take advantage of aside from the fact that it
would trigger one as a subject for deportation.
