i havent paid attention to other sections of the bookstore as much, but
in the Physics section, the last few years have seen a huge changeover
to books about a "great man". last year it was yada yada yada about
Einstein (centennial). then Oppenheimer gets a couple books. and i can't
even remember all the other great names on the new physics books.

when i was a kid, the first place i wanted to go in the library was the
physics section. and i started salivating when i started pulling books
out on the atom, on magnetism, on electronics, and so forth.

there are very few new books like that around anymore. its all
personalities and their personal "histories".

now i am off to teach the Biot-Savart law (errr, how electric currents
produce magnetic fields).
