[Marxism] Questions

Hi everyone

This, too, came from another list. Some questions that beg answers...

I realize that the focus of this group is as stated, Language in the New
Capitalism. Fortunately this group has some extremely bright folk who take a
broad view of the topic. Accordingly, I ask the following -- even partial
replies gratefully accepted:

1) Appart from the immense disparity in wealth and wealth related goodies
to dispense, how does the establishment get away with prolonging the war in
Iraq? Three years of disaster and unraveling of the lies would seem an
impediment, but no, the establishment prepares for more wars for an
self-proclaimed indefinite period. The establishment look like it has mastered
the black arts, but surely it has its vulnerabilites. What are the
vulnerabilities that pacifists can exploit?

2) A related question, how has the establishment managed to manage the
opposition, especially in the West and Australia so effectively. Again, what
might be done? It would seem, a partial but powerful explanation, for the
low-turnout after 3 years of disastrous war, is the infighting among professive
groups. What an opportunity foregone.... The Bushits must be ecstatic.

3) What are the tactics that the rest of us might emulate of people like
Sean Gonzalvez of the Cape Cod Times and, I'm sure scores like him, who can ask
the probing questions without being exiled? I've discovered that using Lakoff
reframing at CNN, e.g., works once, perhaps, but then one seldom gets another
chance and in the meanwhile the "damage" is contained by the legion of academic
whores that CNN and the rest of the mainstream trot out to undo the damage of
the discordant music. Once more, what can we do?

4) While the orders of magnitude difference in money does not explain all of
this anomaly, it probably handles a good deal of it. So, if this is true, what
does the progressive movement need to get a steady injection of money from
many donars (so it cannot be dominated by a couple of giagantic donars and thus
become a toothless hound)?

5) Why are these issues marginalized even by the progressive media in favor
of yet another analysis of lost battles? I think it solves little to appeal to
notion of progressive masochism or to Freud's WWI explanation that we began
inorganic and the wars explain our behavior in that they represent our
unconscious desire to return to our inorganic origins.

Answers or pointers to answer greatly appreciated. I'm tired of 4 decades
of losing, but far more important the planet can't sustain much more of the
same.

p.s. One important one I left out: why don't progressive people help other
progressive people and more importantly what can be done to reverse this
impediment to growth and progress?

ENDS
