Noam Chomsky's excellent "Objectivity and Liberal Scholarship" is available 
online:

  You'd do better to find it in print (it was recently re-released by itself, 
and also as part of "The New American Mandarins" or something like that) - the 
footnotes are quite valuable, and they're not in the online version. Chomsky's 
essay was written about 35 years ago, but its worthwhile for its description 
and analysis of the anarchist collectives, Stalinism, etc.

  Among full-length books, Antony Beevor's is very good, and it's a reasonable 
length (most books on the Spanish revolution/civil war are about 800 pages!). 
And the Broue/Temime book is great, although old. Ronald Fraser has done great 
work (especially his oral history, "Blood of Spain").
