Danielle has already replied to this, but as it's directed at me I felt that
I should add to her comments.

Nothing I said in my remarks is conjecture or unsubstantiated by events. Yes,
it is a rant, but one motivated by continued attempts by supporters of Sinn
Fein on this list to offer an objective analysis of the present situation based
on fact and not manipulation of those facts.

As Danielle rightly says, surely our role as Marxists isn't to blindly tail
those nparties which enjoy popular support, regardless of their policies and/or
politics. In the case of SF, I cannot help thinking that their base of
support is due now to an emotional connection to a party that once followed a
revolutionary path. I've also met declared Marxists who believe that New Labour
remains the party of working people in mainland Britian and thus retain
membership.

The leadership of SF has taken a huge lurch to the right. This is
indisputable. Time will reveal the true impact of their actions to the cause of
national
liberation and social progress in Ireland.
