Walter, in your breathless desire to get people waving pom-pom's again,
would it be asking too much for you to do a little bit of research before
posting something about the Chilean SP and indigenous peoples? The plain
fact is that the Mapuche have been treated like shit. Go to
http://www.mapuche-nation.org/english/frontpage.htm and you will find
statements in opposition to the free trade agreement that the Chilean
"socialists" embraced, complaints about the Lagos government's refusal to
defend Mapuche land from timber or mining excursions, etc.
You'll notice that people like rrubinelli have shown their willingness to
refrain from opening up this thread again. Let's have a little patience,
please.
