[Marxism] Black nation
Marvin Gandall :
Comment: Is it really the case that US white leftists generally don't
understand the unique oppression of black people,
^^^
CB: Yes, it is the case. As a general matter, US white leftists, though not
seriously affirmatively racist, do not make the liberation of Black people
central to their political projects, do not see racism against Black people
as a "unique" and special oppression as compared with the other social
oppressions inflicting the U.S. Racism against Black people is just one
among many , and in practice fighting racism against Black people slips down
to be of less importance than other struggles. Black people are just another
"identity" group for much of the White left. In general, White leftists,
have shadowed the overall U.S. political trend of denying that racism
against Black people is still an important social and political problem and
maintaining that socalled reverse discrimination by Blacks against Whites is
almost as important or a greater problem than the old true racism ,White
discriminating against Black.
The answer to your question is definitely "yes".
^^^^^^^^
and don't support their struggles -
^^^^
CB: The U.S. White left support for Black struggles is very weak. The White
left puts more emphasis on other struggles.
^^^^^^
irrespective of they consider US blacks to be a nation, as being
either in America or outside of it, or being - as is frequently the case
where internal national minorities are tied to the economy and prevailing
culture (language, schools, religion, laws, sports, entertainment, patriotic
symbols) - BOTH inside and outside of it? I find that hard to believe -
harder, for sure, than in the case of that part of the black bourgeoisie
represented by Andrew Young - but if you're not exaggerating, it is
scandalous.
