[Marxism] the Black Nation today

  First, I want to thank Joaquin for his superb examples of the concrete 
manifestation of this issue today (and a quick skim -- I'm at work -- makes me 
think he's right on the specifics).
  Second, some useful data just from the last couple days on this issue:
  1. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/07/nyregion/07census.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
  "Whites to Be Minority in N.Y. Soon, Data Show", a report on a Brookings 
study about the movement of various groups in and out of the metro region. I 
can't find the original study yet but the article alone is worth reading. The 
importance of such data for assessing workplace/community/joint struggles is 
obvious, and you can find more data all the time in everyday life (in the 
elevator just tonight for instance I realized again how heavily Black and even 
more so (recently) Latina the secretarial workforce in the city has become).
  2. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/06/opinion/06mon3.html
  "In Immigrant Georgia, New Echoes of an Old History"; an interesting 
comparison of despised Irish immigrants in the 19th century and today's new 
immigrants.
  The point is not even these examples but just that to concretize our 
discussion, as Joaquin started to do, you just have to open your eyes and ears.
