Context is everything. The anti-check-off tactic/threat becomes
"popular" at the same time that "specialist" law firms, "anti-labor" law
firms start advertising themselves as the one-stop shops for all your
anti-union needs during the Reagan-led offensive of the bourgeoisie.
These firms of course are the ground equivalent of the Wall Streets's
leveraged buy-out firms that dismantled the "overdeveloped" asset base
of the US capitalism during the 1980s.
PS: Nothing wrong with sarcasm. Has a long, honorable, and cherished
position in Marxist debate.
