i've been using Skype for several years to collaborate with people in
Canada and Australia. the sound quality can be perfect, and occasionally
on  a bad day with a bad TCP/IP connection, atrocious. but if you have a
sound card on your computer, and a reasonable connection to the
internet, you are in business.

if people are interested in using Skype as a tool for connecting with
comrades on the list, i can send some information to get you started.
perhaps its best to NOT list Skype handles on list, best to send offlist
to people you want to talk with.

and yes, skype works fine on linux too.
