Re: [Marxism] Iranian invasion\attack plans?

The part that doesn't mentally square with me is where they're going to
come up with add'l troops. They ought to know that any attack (even "just"
air strikes) is going to require a significant amount of US troops -- both to
secure Iraq and to do any possible occupation of Iran's oil fields.

I have to believe that with the ongoing Iraq fiasco, the military would be
forthright enough to demand those troops in the case of any Iranian attack.
So in my evaluation, a key is if there is any buildup of troops in/near Iraq.

The reaction of the American population ought to be interesting. An Iranian
attack is bound to cause widespread opposition and it will truly make Bush's
agenda plain for all to see -- unless, of course, we have another one of
those "Pearl Harbor-like events", which would truly throw a wildcard into the
equation.

Either way, you're right -- any attack would be doubling down and going for
broke... :-(

I can see where it could be -- their goal will be a change of gov't,
without a huge US occupation. If they could delude themselves into believing
they could occupy Iraq without a resistance growing up around them, they can
delude themselves that they could change the Iranian gov't.

In solidarity.
