Not strictly true. Marx understood Capitalism as most advanced form of mode
of production, yes, an improvement on Feudalism in terms of development of
productive forces. But at the same time he always recognised it as constituting
a human catastrophe. This was the contradiction - thesis and antithesis -
inherent in Marx's analysis; one which demanded the synthesis provided by
socialism.
