the current MR has a much more upbeat picture of the Farm Labor Organizing
Committee (and, interestingly enough, of the Midwest branch of SEIU 1199):

I had heard of various problems of the UFW, but it's a lot worse than
I imagined. "Decisions of Long Ago Shape the Union Today" is the
most depressing -- I didn't know that Cesar Chavez' anticommunism
purged so many organizers.
