FBI Visit Civil Rights Attorney Concerning UAW Rank And File by Doug 
Cunningham/Workers Independent News

Detroit civil rights attorney Julie Hurwitz says the FBI visited her 
office and another attorney?s home regarding the protest by rank and 
file workers against GM/Delphi on Sunday:

[Julie Hurwitz] : ?All they would tell me was that they wanted to talk 
to this lawyer about an event that was being planned on Sunday, January
eighth in regard to the situation with GM/Delphi and the impact on the 
workers there that was being planned outside the upcoming auto show at 
the Cobo Conference Center in Detroit. When I asked if they were law 
enforcement officers, they immediately turned around and left my 
office, wouldn?t answer the question. I later learned in fact that 
these same two people went to this attorney?s home and did identify 
themselves at least as being from the FBI.?

Hurwitz says the FBI visits inquiring about legitimate First Amendment 
protest activities is chilling and violates the Bill of Rights. Hurwitz
is the former Executive Director of the National Lawyers Guild Maurice
and Jane Sugar Law Center.
