Today Trotskyism is the self-designation of political leftist
currents who see in the legacy of Leon Trotsky a distinct political
theory and guidance for practical work as opposed to the legacy of
Lenin.
This is nonsense.
No one who ever drew from the "legacy of Leon Trotsky" would ever say
that that legacy was "opposed to the legacy of Lenin." Since Trotsky
himself admitted his error in opposing the Bolshevik wing of the
RSDLP, that period is also not part of the "legacy."
This is the weakness of Wikipedia. I had never known how open it was
until I added a few lines to one of its articles a few weeks ago. No
problem, no questions, no request for a source.
As for self-designations. I am a socialist. Nothing else is needed.
