[Marxism] Aren't the bourgeois democratic tasks substantiallyaccomplished in the countries of S. American ?

Appreciate your response.

I was thinking that they have elections. That is a bourgeois democratic
institution. The elections seem to be putting in ...well... They are
electing some governments that are semi-non-bourgeois. In Venezuela , they
changed the Constitution drastically. Seems a range of _at least_ bourgeois
democratic reforms.

In general, over the many decades, most of the countries seem to have
bourgeois political Constitutions, especially with the waning of military
coups and dictatorships.

Yes, I think many/some have been. One has to establish what those tasks are.

#national independence
#land to the tiller/land reform
#democracy (in it's broadest sense)

In a formal way, yes, in South America they have. ..

CB; I don't quite understand how _bourgeois_ democratic tasks would include
land reform of this type. Did the _bourgeoisie_ carry out land reform in
England ? I thought they removed the peasants from the land, in the
foreclosure acts , etc.

Didn't Simon Bolivar lead national independence movements ? Getting rid of
the Pinochet fascist regime would be accomplishing a bourgeois democratic
task in Chile. Clearly the Bolivarians have accomplished bourgeois
democratic tasks in Venezuela. Argentina's repudiation of their debts seems
a step toward national independence from imperialism

Don't most of the current events in the S. American countries being
discussed involve increased national independence from imperialism ?Of
course, that is the issue in dispute , to some extent. But then it really
does become anticipatory dissing of Morales, since it can't be said whether
his government takes steps toward national independence until he actually
gets in power and office; whether he fulfills his promises of steps toward
national independence or not.
