Re: [Marxism] "site cannot be found"

Brian Shannon quoted AP:

On the China-based portal of search engine Google, a search for material
the Dalai Lama, Taiwan and other sensitive topics returns a message
saying "site cannot be found."

I dont know what "the China-based portal of search engine Google" is
supposed to mean, but when I go to http://www.google.cn and enter "Dalai
Lama". The first hits is the "Official site from the Government Of Tibet
In Exile".

I dont want to defend the Great Chinese Firewall here, but the story
sounds a bit strange to me. It might be that Google redirects searches
from a Chinese IP adress to another site. But after all this is their
standard practice. Requests from German adresses to google.com are
redirected to google.de. And guess what, certain Neonazi sites are
filtered out on google.de. So If you want to get the full search results
from Germany you have to use google.co.uk.

No one complains mauch about that, but that the way it is. Only when the
Chinese do it its bad...
