Sorry. The confusion was mine and I regret that. There are more than a few
conservatives in the US who are opposed to the US blockade of Cuba, such
as the Republican congress member Jeff Flake. He argues the best way to
get rid of the "Castro regime" is to end the blockade and have a million US
teenagers invade the island. I think Cuba could survive that, but I am an
optimist, in any event. There are also conservatives who argue that the
invasion and occupation of Iraq is harmful to US interests, for a raft of
reasons most of which I wouldn't agree with either, but they do oppose
the war. This is a good thing, in my opinion.

As far as Merkel is concerned, I was trying to be partially facetious, but
that didn't translate so well into plain text. I regret the confusion, but it
seemed to me if more conservative voices were raised against keeping
the Guantanamo base, and against the blockade, that would be good.

By "we" I intended to mean people in the United States of Disneylandia.
