[Marxism] Morales: Bolivia Needs "Partners, Not Masters"

Quote below sounds damned good to me. Do we agree on whether Morales
will carry out the implications of his statement? Do we agree on
what doing so would mean for the deepening of the revolution?
Definitely no on both counts.
But I assume we're all agreed that he's right to assert the
sovereignty of the country vis-a-vis it's right to renegotiate or
cancel contracts imposed on it under economic and military duress --
and that we think workers, peasants, the indigenous, women, etc.
should organize to make it happen!

(This is just up at Times' Reuters link; something's missing at the end
of each paragraph but I assume it's a prelude to a fuller article)

Morales: Bolivia Needs "Partners, Not Masters"

Filed at 1:55 p.m. ET

PARIS (Reuters) - Bolivian President-elect Evo Morales said ``Today in
my country, no contract is constitutional. Any contract with companies,
any agreement with the government, both bi-lateral and multi-lateral,
must be ratified in parliament. Over 70 contracts haven't been ratified
by parforeign investment.

Morales was due to meet French President Jacques Chirac on Saturday.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Jean-Baptiste Mattei said discussions
with Morales would address the situation of French investors in Bos.''
