RE: [Marxism] FWD: Another Chavez or another Lula?
David W:
That may include Evo and his MAS...or it may not. I just don't start
FROM Evo. You do, unfortunatly.
David M:
So did 55% of the people of Bolivia. Why is David W in such a hurry to
instruct the millions of Bolivians who elected Evo, to show how much smarter
than them he is because of that quick reformist-spotting trigger he has?
What a quick draw! David say Walter starts with Evo, but this is puerility.
Whom did the Bolivians elect, the Ghost of Che? Didn't Marx say that we
bring no premises beyond the actual human beings who make history? Don't we
all have to start with Evo in the real world?
I have never seen the slightest indication from David W that he understands
the following very basic fact:
when a person is elected president s/he assumes the responsibility to become
the president of ALL BOLIVIANS, not just the people who voted for her/him.
If it were not necessary to continue the political struggle, to WIN the REST
of the population to one's side, why bother to participate in an election?
Just call the insurrection and IMPOSE your understanding on the 45% of the
people who didn't vote for you. The fate of War Communism is the
demonstrated answer to what happens when a party -- even a very good
party -- relies on only ONE class in society and uses violence (confiscation
of grain from the peasants) or the threat of violence against another class.
We are seven years into the Bolivarian Revolution and the Venezuelans are
STILL attempting to build a Venezuela for all Venezuelans.
Being elected president is a mandate to EXTEND the unity that created Evo's
victory, not to whittle it away carving off the sectors who disagreeably
differ from the MAS in the first week after the victory. If the people ever
come to power in the US I fear we will have to put David in a temporary coma
just to keep him from stroking out with disappointment.
Politics is the art of creating greater unities and making them stick. It is
not the work of days, weeks, or even months. Whole peoples move more slowly
than we want. We should get used to it. It helps with the heartburn.
