[Marxism] Toussaint chickens out

After breaking off talks at 4:30 am, TWU Local 100 Roger Toussaint announced
there would be a "series of strikes," starting with "certain" private bus
lines. And no subway strike until Tuesday.

Some liberal fools will hail his "creativity" and thank him for sparing the
"riding public," but he's pissing away the members' strength and morale.

New York Transit Union Rejects Offer; Plans Partial Strike
By STEVEN GREENHOUSE and SEWELL CHAN
The executive board of the transportation workers union rejected the
Metropolitan Transportation Authority's final contract offer this morning, and
the union said that it would begin a partial strike beginning on some private
bus lines later today, but would delay a citywide strike until at least Tuesday
at midnight.

Subways and buses have continued to run this morning despite the impasse.

"Tonight we voted to begin a series of strikes," said Roger Toussaint, the
union's president.

The two sides halted talks at about 5 a.m. today after intense negotiations
involving Mr. Toussaint and Peter S. Kalikow, the chairman of the
transportation authority, who talked face to face for the first time.
