There is sometimes a smidgen of reality in the most offensive rants.
In this case, it is the blame on the West for what happened to the
Jews. Ahmadinejad says, "If you [Europeans] committed this big crime,
then why should the oppressed Palestinian nation pay the price?
"This is our proposal: give a part of your own land in Europe, the
US, Canada or Alaska to them so that the Jews can establish their
country,"

There is another policy that socialists have always urged and that
would have undercut the Zionist claims to Palestine which, we should
always remember, was a minority view in the Jewish community until
the horrors of Nazism. At the end of WWII,* Truman was called upon to
open up the doors to the Jewish refugees. He refused to do this, but
he quickly recognized Palestine as a homeland for the Jews.

One might argue that that was then--what about now.

I don't have the documentation on this, but when there was a mass
emigration from the Soviet Union, the United States aided this by
allowing Jews who fled to Vienna to come to the United States. At
some point, however, the U.S. Congress reversed this, refusing direct
admission to the United States. They would have to go to Israel.

Once in Israel, the U.S., along with Zionist organizations, provides
tremendous financial incentives to staying there. This is intertwined
with the financial aid that is given to Israeli settlers in the West
Bank, which would be impossible without the U.S. aid of over $6
billion dollars a year. That is what we know about. There may be even
more hidden in other forms of aid, such as the funds for the CIA and
similar organizations about which we know nothing. As Rumsfeld put so
well, there is this "unknown known" that we have to deal with. http://

Perhaps someone has the documentation on cutting off emigration
through Vienna, or at least the time period. If they do, I can go to
the library and use ProQuest to find it in the NYTimes.
