Because the US government is plotting against Iran, it does not mean that the
US left has to get in bed with bunch of criminals blood thirsty. Instead of
that, they can put their support behind the powerful mass movement of students,
workers, and women against the fascist Islamic regime. One reason why
Ahamadinejad is making the kind of statements he has been making about Jewish
people and Israel is because he truly wants a confrontation (hoping that it
would be limited) with the US and the Israeli governments. In case such
confrontation occurs, he thinks he can find an opportunity to launch a massive
attack against the mass movement in Iran. They did that before by provoking a
war with Sadam Hussein and by taking over the American embassy.

I am really sick and tired of people saying that workers revolution is not an
alternative. when will it be? Maybe never if we listen to advices like yours.
Iranian left was powerful even during the Iranian revolution of 1979. The west
and US government helped the Islamic regime to come to power so that the left
in Iran would be pushed aside and massacred by the Iranian bourgeoisie that
chose Islam and the Mullahs as their cover. Today, Iranian communist are much
more mature and better organized than they were before. Communist do have a
chance to go for the political power if there is a mass political upheaval in
the country. Communism is alive and powerful in Iran.

First of all, It is easy for you to say let's tolerate the Islamic regime. You
do not see their gun on your head. It is quite arrogant and in sensitive for
you to make that kind of statement. Moreover, it is outright nationalism; you
want people in Iran to tolerate the brutal Islamic regime so that you can fight
US "imperialism." We neither tolerate the Islamic regime nor will we put up
with US government and its criminal policies. They are both our enemies.
Your advice for us is not new. Thank you, we have already experienced it before
during the 1979 Revolution. Much of the Iranian left at that time chose to
ally itself with the Islamists against the US government and the shah's regime.
It brought us terrible disaster. Your advice today is out of line even more
because the Islamists are the ruling elite not an opposition force as they were
during the Shah's regime.

You've got to start from basic facts at some point, and the fact on the
table is that Iran is a target of Western imperialism. The media
articles railing against Ahmadinejad (and they have been doing so since
his election) are not objective reports of a man, having been elected
in a system that is far from democratic, making gestures of bravado.
There is a definite *agenda* to their publication, and that is the
vilification of Iran so as to make a brutal attack by imperialism on
the nation more palatable. It has been ongoing and systematic in
reports on Iran in the previous months, and needs to be opposed.

Say what you will about Ahmadinejad and the clerics; I'm with you.
