Re: [Marxism] Immigration in the Australian Economy
I don't know whether John Pilger smokes crack, but it is from his book
*Hidden Agendas* that I read about how many Australians at least used to
fondly remember the heroic exploits of the Timorese who fought alongside
Australians against Japanese troops (there is even an Australian film about
it, *Men of Timor*).
The sources for my remarks on immigration and capital accumulation in
Australia are the article I originally posted:
<http://www.migrationinformation.org/Feature/display.cfm?ID=72>
and this article:

As far as the extent to which the Australian economy, and its labour market,
is buoyed by profits from imperialist exploitation of the Thrid World, I do
not have time to research this. Try it yourself, laughing boy.
PS Louis: black workers do not occupy the same position in regard to their
government's imperialism as do white workers. And also, I do not say that
all 'indigeneous' imperialist country workers are 'coddled'. Many
unprofitable jobs entail strenuous labor. I am talking about their position
within the means of production and the extent of their *exploitation*, not
their *oppression*. Also, it is not my 'wish' to end the discussion, but I
think it is probably for the best. I apologise for keeping on the discussion
like this. My regards to you.

Whilst there have been some ambiguities in
Australian attitudes > to non-white populations (the
Timorese who helped Australian
soldiers in the battle of Gallipoli are remembered
fondly in
some quarters I think),
These "quarters" would be crack smokers, I assume.
No, seriously. You had me rolling on the floor
laughing with this comment.
Not all of the Lebanese are citizens or are
categorised as
lifetime Australian residents. Many of them are
contracted by
the Australian state until the profitability of
Lebanese brain > drain is on the wane. Many more are
illegal immigrants helping > Austalian capital *and*
the Australian people to live high off > the hog.
Your sources for this are...?
