Re: [Marxism] Immigration in the Australian Economy
There are parallels; I did not say that Australia (or France, or Ireland)
was *the same* as Nazi Germany. To the denizens of sub-saharan Africa, the
millions of young black mnen locked in America's prisons, the people of
Guatemala, or the people of Iraq oppressed and exploited by imperialism the
distinction between fascism and bourgeois democracy might appear somewhat
academic. But of course there's distinctions. And there is no Nazi state on
Earth as of now, I think.
Needless to say, I am pessimistic as to what can be done in imperialist
countries today.
PETER WROTE:
While I might describe the governments and political balance of power in
Ireland and our French one in rather colourful terms at times a parallel
with 1920-30 Germany would not be a useful analytical model upon which to
base an meaningful political intervention.
