'A few rich people'? I am sceptical about this. With all the jobs in the
defense industry, the wages paid to the mercenary labor force (armies),
US/UK corporate profits sustained by cheap oil, and the necessity of
imperialist war to sustain the *whole* monopoly capitalist system, I think
we would need to think twice before we ascribed the decision to invade Iraq
to the connivance of a handful of profiteers. If it were only a few rich
peoples pockets being lined, and the rest of the people's money being taken
from their pocket to pay for it, why are such a slim majority of Americans
ever recorded as being for or against the war? How many British and American
people would lose out, and to what extent, if their respective governments
*did not* go to war on Iraq?

I think difficult calculations would need to be made in deciding who
benefits from the war on iraq. Ultimately, no one benefits, and we will all
go to hell. But in the meantime...
