Re: [Marxism] Delicatessan

Well, as it says in the great Mahabharata:

'Those seeds of grains they call rice and so forth, they are all alive, good
brahmin, what do you think of that? ....... Come to think of it, no one
fails here to hurt.'
--- Hunter to the brahmin who was critical of hunting and meat eating (The
Book of the Forest)

The crucial (and prescientific) flaw in this regard is thatplants (at least
the less developed ones!) do not have nervous systems and so are not
sentient beings. All organic things strive towards life. But some are quite
replaceable. In any case, it is useful to distinguish, for example, between
the being of a gorilla and that of a fly.

Perhaps vegetarianism has no relation to the lack of violence towards human
beings and, not being a pacifist, I don't expect it to. My example of Adolf
Hitler shows that the most cruel and inhuman persons can be vegetarians.

MARLA VIJATA KUMAR WROTE:

As a vegetarian myself, I sometimes wonder if cutting down green pants
doen't count as cruelty to other living beings.
