Have you had a chance to read the Labor Party news, in the links I
forwarded? This gives more details on why S.C., starting with the
backing of Donna DeWitt, AFL-CIO state co-chair. And yes, it is
based, perhaps more than any other factor, on ties to the longshore
struggle.

It shouldn't make you nervous, but rather hopeful.

For lack of a working-class party, many labor activists and
people of color -- not just in S.C., but in NYC as well -- have
gone into the Green Party. That was in my view a temporary
expedient, and not the best one at that. If the GP in S.C. is as
pro-working class as you say (leaving out any party that practices
fusion), then the best activists in it will find a way to relate
to this new development.
