That Donna Dewitt was AT the MWM says something, doesn't it? She, along with
other activists, went through a radicalization during the Charleston 5 case,
and the ILA strike that lead up to it.

As for a vote...Marc Dudzic had been touring the US all last summer and this
fall, holding meetings with LP, and ex-LP activists like me. Everyone basically
told him the same thing: people joined the LP to challenge the Democrats at
*every* level, not "just in the streets" which was the LP's counter to running
in elections. Maybe they got the message.

South Carolina has something like a 3% unionization rate. It's very small. What
kind of base the LP can have, even electorally, is questionable. I know that
Black Workers for Justice and other labor/community organizations have, in the
past, been very supportive of the LP and worked with it.

A fascinating and hopeful devlopment.
