I think it was not so much the "timidity in the electoral field" but the
_reason_ for that timidity: the reluctance to challenge the DP -- or the
firm allegiance to the DP of some of the unions supporting the Labor
Party. Same thing as the Cobb campaign; don't spoil it for the DP.
Is not South Carolina solidly Republican anyhow, so an LP electoral
campaign won't do any damage.
