Re: [Marxism] Posting articles to the list

Walter and Patrick are missing something here.

when they say its easier to have everything delivered at once via email
rather than having to go to the web to download, surely they mean (do
you not???), that its easier to have everything **you want to read**
delivered at once via email .....

one of the points about the rule on posting long articles already
available on the web is that lists without such a rule experience a
proliferation of cross-posted articles. will Patrick and Walter be
singing the same tune once they begin recieving 25 postings a day at 30
kB per post, only 3 (for example) of which they are interested in reading?

my preference would be to set up a sister list where "raw data" like
lengthy articles from the web could be posted. those that want to
experience for themselves the power of this kind of flow of information
can subscribe to the coming deluge.

I often disagree with Patrick Bond, but people who live and work in
countries where DSL is the norm have either forgot or never knew what
dialup is like. Here in Cuba dialup is all we have and it's simpler
and easier to receive what is sent this way than to have to then make
another step on to the internet to pull things down, at dial-up speed
again.

Ah! If there's still a chance to make a case here, I'd vote for
*continuing* to rip off articles and send them off (say, up to 30kb
length), for the simple reason that many of us (e.g. in Third World
countries) are using dial-up access. We get messages from email that
are easy to download, while in contrast, following URL links is
exceptionally slow, difficult and frustrating.
