Both the Woods/Grant tendency (Committe for Marxist International/Workers
International League) and the Taafe/Walsh tendency (CWI) were originally the
Militant Tendency (at least thats what they were called in the UK and in
Ireland), operating as entryists in the social democracy. In the early or
mid 90s they split/Grant was expelled (a complicated story that you'll get
two different awnsers to).
The main difference between the two groups today seems to be that the WIL
still operate within the social democracy - while the CWI argue for new mass
workers parties (within which they wish to retain their right to organise as
a revolutionary marxist tendency). Though I'm sure 'Nigel Irritable' (if
he's the same Nigel from urban75) will be able to give you a much more
thorough documentation of their various differences.
