Can't speak of Indonesia.

In Argentina, however, what has been torched is not just social
gains. Economic independence fell before. In fact, already in 1976
the destruction of the local manufacturing sector was an objective of
policy. The idea was to weaken the working class even if it was
necessary to torch the manufacturing sector to attain that Paradise.

In the 90s, thins were still worse: any section of the structure of
material production that did not fit the necessities of the global
oligarchy were -to the letter- either razed to the ground, given away
to rot and decay, downsized to midget scale, etc.

Salvador Treber, an interesting economist of Córdoba, Argentina, has
made the numbers and came to the conclusion that the degree of
destruction of the social and material structures of production in
Argentina can only be equated with what took place in the fSU.

In the end, this is all that the Cold War was about. Once the
Russian kernel of resistence foundered (and when I say this I am
talking about _objective_ situations, not of what the fSU _actually_
perceived, did, or wanted to do), the whole chain of resistence to
imperialist reorganization à la 1912 ("globalization") was torn down,
most particularly in its weaker links such as Argentina after 15
years of neoliberalism (which began in 1976) and a military defeat
against an imperialist coalition in 1982.
