Re: [Marxism] Progressive Democrats of America
I think we can safely assume many in the antiwar movement will try to
counterpose getting Dems elected to Congress to actions in the street.
They will argue that Bush's divebomb in the polls presents an
opportunity to shift the balance of power. They won't require, of
course, that those they support come out against the war -- as they
give no sign of doing. The Dems smell blood and will use this as an
argument that they need not differentiate themselves programmatically
from the Republicans -- except on their alleged superior "honesty."
This is why, by the way, Bush and the other Republicans challenging
the Dems on their support for the war are correct when they say the
Dems are hypocritical for complaining about fabricated intelligence.
We should be digging up antiwar articles from before the war's start,
in which many of us argued that the Dems were using bullshit arguments to
support the coming war. And certainly none of us had access to any
classified information.
