Buruma, what were you doing on Washington Square in 2003? Certainly not
protesting the war in Iraq. As a matter of fact, I spotted you, George
Packer and Paul Berman on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 8th
Street. Berman was waving a copy of "Darkness at Noon" over his head and
screaming, "Down with Islamofascism". Since I had my camera with me, I took
your picture:
