[Marxism] The Ideological Assault on Pensions

At http://www.kclabor.org/news.htm this morning (and if you haven't got your
labor news yet there, you obviously need more coffee!), is a link to a Jonathan
Tasini piece (see subject line above for the link's label) critiquing a NY
Times Magazine piece by Roger Loewenstein yesterday on pensions. Tasini
actually lets the author off easy. Loewenstein's piece is a long, detailed
explanation of why traditional pensions are inherently impossible to sustain
from an economic standpoint. Which of course is b.s. -- but I could see the
article providing arguments for those -- including Democrats -- who want to say
there's no alternative to companies dumping their pension plans (Delphi's
Miller comes off like a rational person!), and for pension "reform" legislation
further stripping away existing and future pensions.

Under the Times new pay for articles policy it may not be freely available, so
if anyone wants a copy let me know.
