I lived in South Boston once when I was younger for about six months. I had
never, and have never since, heard such rabid racist verbiage coming from
ordinary people as I heard there. The locals would, when discussing
politics, be cursing the British in Ireland one minute (rightfully) and
indulging in violent racist banter the next. The different black people I
spoke to in the street all complained that Boston was a racist city without
my brining up the issue, and one informed me that America was a racist
state. I believe that America is possibly the most racist society the world
has ever seen, and that that fact has yet to properly impact even the left
there.

Wasn't there white only immigration laws passed in California in the early
twentieth century, with armed road patrols racially profiling prospective
citizens?
