[Marxism] Re: Andhra Pradesh municipal elections

Thank you, Louis!
We in Andhra Pradesh love to read P. Sainath's
excellent articles. I would only like to add that in
the city of Vijayawada, a major urban center after
Hyderabad in Andhra pradesh, the results had come in
late, due to postponement of elections in some wards
of the city's municipal corporation. The Congress
party had won 28 of the 60 seats, The Communists 17 (9
for the CPI and 8 for the CPI(M)) and Naidu's TDP
could manage just 10 seats (It was ruling the city
till now) and some others 3 seats. The BJP drew a
blank. Because of the infighting in the Congrees camp,
the post of mayor was offered to the CPI for 1 year.
As per the agreement reached before the elections, the
congress mayor would rule for 3 years, CPI and CPI(M)
mayors for 1 year each.
