Re: [Marxism] Chavez supports Whites over Reds

OK. Thanks for that. I was a kid in LA when the Dodgers arrived in '58.
Saw them play in the Coliseum. I remembered that they had something to do
with the White Sox that year. Not sure why I thought Spahn was part of
it -- geographical association (after all Milwaukee and Chicago, as seen
from LA, are like Brooklyn and Manhattan as seen from anyplace except NYC
itself, or even Anaheim and Burbank, which are not too much different in
relative distance..

Spahn was with the Milwaukee (formerly Boston)Braves, and beat the
Yankees in the World 57 Series.

White Sox made an appearance in the 59 world series, lost to the Dodgers
4 games to 2, with Drysdale and Podres anchoring the rotation and Larry
Sherry emerging from the bullpen as their pitching ace.

White Sox had Wynn, Pierce, (Tricky Dick) Donovan, Shaw, and Latman as
their rotation. Staley and Lown out of the bullpen.

Sox were hitless wonders that year, team BA 6th out of 8 AL teams;
teaming slugging pct. 7th. Aparicio hit .257

Wasn't Warren Spahn their ace back then? Beat the Dodgers in 1960
World
Series?
