Re: [Marxism] Dylan documentary

As in Joe Hall and the Corvettes' 'I'm a bongo beatin' beatnik and I just
don't dig rock 'n' roll'........

PS Paul- Of course all music is created out of traditions. And I don't doubt
that Bob Dylan has written some great songs in the past forty years (I just
haven't heard them). Still, the idea that 'most of the music being made
today bears [Dylan's] imprint one way or another' is just untrue. Also, the
'fogies' remark was specifically directed towards Britain and America's
pantheon of great rock 'legends', the vast majority of whom were only the
most commercially successful end of much deeper and more interesting music
scenes and whose music, furthermore, is by and large completely played out.

PAUL DILLON WROTE:

beatniks played bongos, they didn't strum guitars, remember, and especially,
beatniks didn't play
banjos!!!)
