The following story has appeared on the BBC Website:
'Five shot dead' in New Orleans
At least five people have reportedly been shot dead by police in the US
city of New Orleans, where a massive effort is underway to aid hurricane
survivors.
The five were part of a larger group of people crossing a bridge
carrying weapons, police official WJ Riley said

New Orleans Deputy Police Chief Riley said at least five people had been
killed when police opened fire on an armed group on the Danziger Bridge,
linking Lake Pontchartrain with the Mississippi River.
It is not known if the police had come under fire first.

Some reports I've seen in discussion groups suggest that the dead men
were army contractors. If so, it would be a major fuck-up.
Does anybody have any more details?
