Change is in the air, to be sure. I'm not sure the Democrats will gain
much, even over the short-to-medium range. The trend has been to park
themselves just to the perceived left side of the Republicans. If the
Bush response to all this has been to demonstrate how far right-wing
bull-headedness and bullshit can go, the Democrats will follow along and
take up their usual parking space.
They won't shift on the war. They won't shift on environmental
planning. Etc.
Now is the time for all good radicals to come to the aid of THEIR party.
