Hi Maggie
From way down here it is impossible to predict anything. Besides the
scale of this disaster is almost beyond comprehension. A city has vanished
and hundreds maybe thousands have perished because they [the elites] could
not be bothered with even a little "nation maintenance."
Down here the media have reported the looting on one channel as "human
nature" asserting itself.
I myself think that the immediate to short term reaction might work for
Bush but in the medium to long term the scandal of neglected infra
structure and the sheer criminality of the folly and waste of resources
spent on adventures such as the Iraq War will tell.
In the mean time my sympathy goes out to the poor - the perennial victims
of capitalist barbarism.
regards
Gary
