I disagree Maggi. I think it's more varied. I work with many typical racist
white workers who are quick to jump on any Black they percieve as doing wrong
as "typical". What I noticed today at work was a change in demeanor, something
I noticed the press had done too, especially CNN oddly enough, that interviewed
people and showed people trying to survive by going after mostly foodstuffs and
water.

Anderson Cooper, no symbol of liberalism that I'm aware of, was actually
berating the Democratic Senator from Louisana for defending Bush when
"...people are fed up and agry at the gov't for ignoring them...". I'm sure
Anderson will get a hand slapping from Atlanta later, but he and others from
CNN have taking this sort of clumsy yet heartfelt position in defense of those
in N.O. for the last two days. Go figure? I've seen this on the local NBC
affiliate also.

I mentioned to my follow workmates that if I were Governor of the state or the
Mayor of N.O.,I'd immediatly call off the armed police from detaining or
otherwise harrassing anyone trying to get food or water as people are starving.
Most agreed that the 'looting' has now turned into survival.

On the CNN web page, one of their reporters noted that even the police are told
that "they are one thier own" in terms of food and water and that they are also
going after stores of food and water.

At any rate, it seems the general disgust at the lack of *any* authorites at the
stadium and that thousands may die of hunger and thirst *in America* is having
an effect even on the most jade racist...
