[Marxism] Another comment on New Orleans news coverage by a fridnd

Fred I have been watching all day.  This is so so enormous I think even
most of us don't yet see how far it can go.  And we can't because it is
happening as we watch.    One little interesting thing:  an the scene
reporter for CNN last night said how people he talked to waiting in line
to BUY survival items in Miss.said they wondered why the private
corporations were not chipping in to help; why cruise ships in the gulf
did not allow people to come aboard for showers and to sleep; why
restaurants and food stores that the people patronized all the time did
not reach out to help.  Also a lot of "choice" words for Bush.   Also
the BBC reports trucks of armed Blacks along with the shots at the
military helicopter.  The government's worst nightmare.   Can you
imagine: shooting at military helicopter.  What city are we in.





But the things we read or hear are small stuff as it is impossible to
know what is really happening.  And the more that happens, the less that
will be allowed out.  Now all I hear about on the TV is "lawlessness"
and without any communications, we can't really know.



So far there is a failure of leadership on every level; where are the
Black organizations; the trade unions; anyone who supposedly cares about
the poor and working people.  No one yet has spoken out clearly.



The failure to provide funds to protect the levees in New Orleans
because of budget cuts and the war should not go unnoticed by anti-war
groups, I believe.



What will come from this we cannot know but something new and perhaps
this time unlike 9/11 it will come from below?



I sympathize with the marxmail lister who talks about becoming ultra
left.  Listening to this homeland security guy talking about this month
being emergency preparedness month almost took me over the top.



Any good sources for news that people have, including any sources you
have, should be posted on the list so we can find out what is going on.
What is needed on the web is a site that just keeps news and posts on
what is really happening.  Perhaps one does exist.
