RE: [Marxism] Katrina's real name

I read *stabilize* in the essay to mean *stop the spiral towards doomsday*.  
The author wrote nothing that suggests to me an assumption that climate is a 
fixed system or that it will return to its former state.
 
To be sure, the essay is written in an oversimplified manner.  It's an op-ed in 
a major newspaper.  I wouldn't expect more than what it is.  If it were laden 
with technical language it would have less impact.
