I don't think that's true - the right is throwing everything it can against
her hoping something will stick - Israel, members of her family not
supporting her, her husband divorcing her, Afghanistan, her association with
"left-wing kooks" like MoveOn.org (!), etc., etc. However, there is
something "special" about the Israel-Palestine question, which is that it is
the ONLY question on which the ENTIRE ruling class, politicians and the
"punditocracy" who speak to the public for them, is united. You will not
find a SINGLE elected politician of any significance (Cynthia McKinney being
probably the most prominent exception, and her presence on the "mainstream"
stage is nil), or a SINGLE columnist or talk-show host of any importance,
who will speak out in favor of the Palestinian right to resist (nevertheless
the right to return). Some would defend Sheehan against all the other
charges and slanders, but if she were "proven" to be a "Palestinian-lover",
not a single one would defend her.
