These two sentences reveal that Leslie Salgado had allowed the FBI
agents to remain too long in his company. Here is how the dialogue
should go in such cases.

FBI: We would like to talk to you.

Response: Am I under arrrest?

FBI: Uh, no.

Response: You may go!

They go.

I have just quoted the whole of a conversation I had with two FBI agents
some 35 years ago.

It wasn't until after they had left that, looking back on it, I
suspected that the intent of the visit concerned my daughter (who had
been on the Third Venceremos Brigade) rather than me. But nevertheless,
this represents what should be the whole of one's conversation with FBI
agents. Ordinary courtesy can prove unwise.
