[Marxism] Festival nod for Muslim bomb film (BBC News)

A film about British Muslim bombers in London is to be shown in competition
at the Montreal World Film Festival.
Red Mercury is about three British-born Muslim fanatics who hold a
restaurant to siege with a lethal bomb.
The film, directed by Roy Battersby and starring Brassed Off's Pete
Postlewaite, will get its world premiere at the festival on 27 August.
It is being seen as especially topical in the wake of last month's bombings
in London, which left 56 people dead.
Red Mercury, which was written by Farrukh Dhondy, goes behind the headlines
and examines why young second-generation Muslim men might be driven to
extremism.
In the film, the three young men are prepared to die for their cause when
they hold a restaurant in London to siege.
A battle of wills ensues between the men, the hostages and MI5.
Red Mercury also stars Ron Silver, Juliet Stevenson, Stockard Channing and
rising British talent Navin Chowdhry.
The film will be released in cinemas later this year.
Last month, organisers of the Cambridge Film Festival decided to pull a film
about two suicide bombers from its schedule because of the 7 July attacks in
London.
